The people we will miss...

This pictures were taken the last couple days we lived in Michigan. Its funny, I have put so much effort into settling in here in California, I haven't taken the time to post about our amazing friends who we will never forget.

Our neighbors, the Bates, hosted a goodbye party. And thank goodness the food was amazing, because that was the least fun I have ever had at a party. It was really really hard for me to say goodbye to my best friends. While in Michigan I have been blessed to have:

women who have changed my life...
taught me so much...
loved my children...
have been classmates...
have been soulmates...
have bonded over Primary...
have opened their homes to us...
(I think this one is about to chuck an inocent baby...)
have been more like sisters than friends...
have been role models for us...
have earned the title of "grandma"...

We love you and hope to cross paths again. Maybe conference... you always see old friends at conference.

Christmas Eve

I think this picture is hilarious. Jacob in his santa suit is entertaining enough, but he has this mature look on his face that is like "really? 10:30 at night and we are still partying?"

We spent the evening with our friends the Heiselts. We ate great food, played Settlers of Catan game with a huge expansion pack, watched Muppet Christmas Carol, and reinacted the Nativity scene. I was Mary, Jacob was baby Jesus, Alex was a wiseman, Aaron chose to watch instead of be in it. The Heiselt family members were the other parts. It was pretty precious. Jacob just looked up at us and smiled.

Thanksgiving Day...

Totally awesome. We had a huge feast at our house with our friends the Bartletts, Richardsons, and Jorgensons. Everyone brought the most amazing food. There might have been a strategy involved with the people I invited. Each person brought something I now can't live without. The day was a success and I had my own personal win by not over-cooking the turkey. (note to self - trust the meat thermometer and not the suggested time on the turkey cooking instructions)

I am filled with gratitude for my friends and family. Especially my friends who stand in as family while we are out here in Michigan. We are so blessed. Our Heavenly Father is so mindful of our needs. Thanks be to Him.

Saturday with Friends

Aaron in his usual role - king of something high

We spent last Saturday with a family we love making and decorating cookies. It was fun and actually the first thing we have done this whole Christmas season to get in the Christmasy mood.
