Natural Bridges State Beach

Today we went to the beach after church. It was the perfect weather and we found a great beach spot called Natural Bridges State Beach. It was pretty accessible and it had shallow tide pools that even Jakee could play in.

Alex used his new iPod touch to capture the pictures of the day. It was Andrew's first  beach trip and the first time we took a family of six on a beach adventure.

We parked ourselves behind this lifeguard tower and had perfect amount of shade and view of the beach.
Alex wanted to show off his muscles and pick up the natural bridge.

Sand angels right before we said goodbye.
Jacob started out this day a boy and ended it a man. He was such a good boy today.

Our cute little guys

Two quick videos of how our littlest boys are making it in the world.

My birthday

My birthday was so fun. We had our neighbors over for ribs and cake. A cake that I did not make...

Alex took over cake making duties this year. He made it all by himself. He even aquired the recipe at school in a textbook. One day a couple months back he brought me this piece a paper with a recipe written on it. He had copied the whole thing down and was ready to make it. It was called "Thunder cake" and it even had pureed tomatoes. It was delicious. He even frosted it himself. Seriously, I left him with a bowl of frosting and two 9 inch rounds. And this is what his finished product looked like.

I also got to have a special lunch with Chris on Tuesday and with my girlfriends on Thursday. So this has been a great week.

We had to do the Diet Coke and Mentos experiment. It did not disappoint. Aaron got some adapted nozzles for his birthday that made the pop go extra high.

Grandpa's Final Rest

We met in the morning with Brett, Gloria and kids, Preston, his girlfriend Brie, April, Nielsen Family, Justin and Kathryn's family, Brandon, Katie and Eleanor, Mom, Dad, and Aunt Kris.

Riverside National Cemetery provided a beautiful setting for his burial. They gave us 30 minutes "under the canopy" to say a few words, sing a song, commemorate Granpas' veteran status with a flag folding and gun salute. Then we drove to the site of his burial and watched his casket be placed in the ground and covered with earth.

2 days in Riverside

With Granpa's passing, we had the chance to all get together and enjoy eachother's company.

IFLY

We went to IFLY and got totally "blown away"!  We went with the cousins and had a fantastic time. This kids were all able to follow instruction and have a great time in the wind tunnel. It was so fun to see the look on their faces. Alex was focused. Aaron could not stop smiling. Chris was smiling but trying to keep his mouth closed.

They had a great time and would do it again in a heartbeat.
